Technology Reference

Following are a list of main technologies and their related powers, sorted by technology type. Each technology has several associated items that tell about those technologies in a standard format. The description is a text commentary to help understand the technology. The invocation is how the technology can be used once it is available to a team. The Modifier Technologies is a list of other technologies that can affect the functioning or effectiveness of the described technology. Next is at least one example of a technology in use.

Unless there is a listing, no other technologies directly affect another. This does not preclude indirect relationships. Unless otherwise noted, technologies cannot be combined. At the end for the technology are the specific fees, percentages and other values for each level of that technology in a table. Please note that a lower level of a technology cannot be used. If you have level 4 Plagorism, any time you use Plagorism, it will always be used at level 4, even if you wanted to use the values for level 3.

For the tables, Fees normally refer to the money cost in credits. Research Costs refer to costs in tech points. Percentages vary depending on the context. If you are confused, look at the example for that technology. When the computer checks on a random occurance, this is often refered to as "rolling the dice". No actual dice are involved, it just means that the computer chooses a random number.

Military Production(Factories)

Industrialization

Description
This technology is used to increase the output of your Military Factories. For each item produced in one of your factories there is a percentage chance of a second copy of the item being produced in addition. The percentage chance increases with each level. The extra items produced will have normal resources costs. This technology is not useful to a minor class of team.
Invocation
Passive: Once you have the technology it is automatically used when the team's military items are produced by the factories.

Advanced Manufacturing

Description
For a game where there would be little selection on the items available for creation, this technology may not be useful. In a game like Netmech with many items that can be produced, this technology will be invaluable. Normally in a league the items that can be produced will be split up into 4 technology bands. To produce an item of higher technology bands you need to get the higher level of the technology. Otherwise, you have to buy them off the more expensive free market. This technology is not useful for minor classes of teams.
Invocation
Passive: This technology will just make more military items available to be produced for a group's factories. For leagues with mutliple military items that can be produced. More advanced items will be on the production list.

Robotics

Description
This technology allows you to build multiple factories on the same destination which is developed for military production. The number of total factories increases with each level. This technology is not useful for minor classes of teams.
Invocation
Passive: Higher technology levels allow a higher limit of factories that can be built on the same Military Production sector.

Transportation

Please note that transportation technologies cannot be combined. You must pick the one you want to use in a particular circumstance.

Stealth Move

Description
This technology is used to move past a pin. If this technology fails, the movement will be to a random destination within one jump of the target destination, other than a capital destination. The percentage chance of success increases with each level. There are extra movement fees for a Stealth Move.
Invocation
Select Stealth Move on the movement form. Pick the originating and destination locations, as well as the military items to be sent.

Description
This technology is used to immediately attack a capital before taking 3 other destinations of the square sector. If the technology fails, the movement will be to a random destination, other than a capital. The percentage chance of succes increases with each level. There are extra movement fees for a Stealth Attack.

Skip Jumping

Description
With this technology a movement starts from an unpinned destination and picks intermediate points to it's final destination. As the levels increase, the number of intermediate destinations that can be skipped increases. The percentage chance of success is determined for each intermediate point that is being skipped. If it fails at any point, the movement ends at the intermediary point where the failure occured. There are extra costs for a skip jump. The percentage chance of success increases with each level.
Invocation
Select Skip Jumping on the movement form. Fill in the originating and destination locations, as well as the intermediate movements along the way and the military items to be sent.

Scavenge

Description
This technology is only useful in leagues based on games which have either mission based scenarios or capture the flag to determine victory over a scenario. For more details, see the league configuration for your league. This is a special attack where besides losses on both sides, if the attacker is successful in the mission, they get to take some of the resources being produced on the destination, if there are any left. This could be resource value worth of military items, tech points worth of research or credits worth of money. Whatever is taken will be subtracted from what is produced at the next accounting period. No more than total production can be stolen during the month.
Invocation
Select Scavenge on the movement form. Pick the originating and destination locations, as well as the military items to be sent.

Description
This technology gets the inside track on market prices and lowers the amount you pay for prices on the open market. This technology does not affect player auction items. The chance of success is determined for every open market purchase. The percentage chance of success increases with each level. Fees acrue wether success or not.

Plagorism

Description
This technology is used to copy a certain amount of technology production that an oppponent makes. This can only be used against one opponent at a time. If you pick a new target, the technology will no longer affect the previous target. If the technology works, additional technologies production will be available to the team using the technology. The percentage chance of success will increase with each level, the fees paid to use the technology will increase and the effectiveness of the technology will also increase. Note that the patents technology works against this technology. This technology cannot be used against an ally. This technology can be used by or against minor classes of team, even though they do not have destinations.
Invocation
Plagorism Form: Each time you want to target a group, fill out the Plagorism form. Pick the group to target for the technology. The technology remains in effect against the current target group until the Plagorism form is used to turn it off, by choosing 'None' for the target. The maintenance fee will be charged each accounting period as long as the technology remains on.

Technology Dependencies

Most technologies require another technology to be learned before the next technology can be earned. For instance, you must learn Robotics Level 1 before you can learn Robotics Level 2. You might also be familiar with this concept used in many real time strategy and turn based strategy games.
